The Truth about STRESS

What happens when we experience stress? As  primitive man the stress response was designed to protect us. Protect from what? Perhaps the saber-tooth tiger or whatever the impending danger of the moment was. Yet in modern times we experience stress while sitting in traffic, while at work, in our relationships and while pondering our financial situations. Although our modern day stress is not necessarily life threatening, our body’s respond as if we are in great danger.

So what is happening in our bodies? Well, the stress response triggers the portion of the brain known as the amygdala. Basically an alarm goes off and sends a message to the hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal glands. Chemicals are released into the blood stream such as, adrenal hormones, sugar, cortisol and cortisone. These chemicals affect every system in the body (digestion, circulatory, nervous, respiratory, and reproductive). Learn more about amygdala on Wikipedia

"If your teeth are clenched and your fists are clenched, your lifespan is probably clenched."  -

Our bodies go into Sympathetic response, and this is a glimpse of what could happen…

Palms sweat
Muscles tighten
Breathing becomes shallow
Blood pressure increases
Heart rate increases
Intelligence decreases
Digestion suspends
Nutrients are not absorbed
Toxins are not released

The effects of prolonged stress are exponential. Each time the amygdala triggers chemicals into the body, we become more and more anxious and unknowingly triggered by past events since the  amygdala stores these stress memories in order to protect us.  It is as if the current events as well as all past similar repetitive events are all happening at the same time.

Now a vicious circle occurs as the threshold for the amygdala stress response lowers. With the lower threshold the ability to cope with stress becomes more and more challenging causing susceptibility  to illness if stress is  allowed  to build and build. Potentially leading to diseases  conditions and complications.

What are our options? We are all at choice and the choices are many.  While some of us choose to be proactive about our wellness, others don’t see solutions and stay stuck in a vicious cycle. What ever choices are made consider  this...

There are simple, natural and effective solutions to seemingly difficult to overcome  issues. It IS possible to release those memories stored in the  amygdala. Yes, this is true and just imagine the exponential results possible once those memories are released. It is possible to bring the amygdala to a zero point shifting out of the vicious cycle of stress.
